About Home by Helen

Hi, I’m Helen O’Malley! I live in Minneapolis, MN with my cat Olive and my dog Willow.

The first time I organized a home, I knew. It was magical seeing my vision and planning come to life, but the most rewarding part was seeing how my work transformed the lives of my clients. Client after client, I realized that it wasn’t just about the physical organization but how it could transform someone’s mindset and bring peace. By working together to organize their home, we were able to create spaces that served their lives rather than their lives serving their spaces.

I came to professional organizing a little untraditionally. After organizing my own home, I realized how much passion I had for an organized home and the impact it had for my mental health. It sparked in me a desire to share this gift with those around me, and I began organizing my friends’ and family’s homes. After each job it became clearer and clearer to me that it was time to leave my lucrative job and become an organizer full time.

I specialize in helping families who have lost a loved one work through the process of transitioning their things. This is a real passion of mine because when I lost my dad unexpectedly, it was so hard grieving him while needing to go through his things. I felt like I wasn’t truly present through that process and later had regrets of items I wish I had kept. That is why I want to be there for families and support them through the process of transitioning their loved ones thing. Having walked in their shoes, I know how tough it can be but also how important it is for the healing and grieving process.

Another aspect of my work is my partnerships with non-profit organizations as well as pro-bono work in the community. When I lost my dad, I was shown immense kindness, often times even by people I barely knew. That kindness has forever impacted me. In an effort to pay it forward, I take on several pro-bono jobs a year helping individuals and families after traumatic losses. My intention is to focus on those who might not normally be able to afford my services.
